As a counterpoint to my Worker Shield Twindigo post, I thought I’d do a quicker writeup of what they are taking the place of. These 3sixteens were bought from another /r/rawdenim user in Sept of 2013 and immediately went into heavy rotation. They were my first pair of selvedge raw denim, as I’d mainly just rocked 501 STF’s for years alongside other random jeans from here or there.
This pair has been there through a lot of my life and I still love them. I was wearing them a few times a week (I rotate through my jeans instead of just wearing a single pair forever) up until about a year and a half ago. At that point the knee blew out again and I had other things to wear instead of throwing the money at these for yet another repair, so they got hung up and get pulled out for when I’m working on something in the garage.
Both knees are pretty worn down, but I guess I kneel on my left knee more because i’ts what blows out on all my pairs. Phrasing. The buttonholes are also pretty torn out and could use some serious repair if I ever get so inclined. And the right hand side pocket bag tore where it was sewn to the top of the pocket and that annoys me. All stuff that could be fixed, but I’ve now got a lot of other jeans that could be worn.
All in all, a tremendous pair of jeans that I’ve loved since I got them. They’ve been washed a lot, so I’m actually really suprised that they’ve held onto as much indigo as they have.
I tossed in a few comparison shots with what replaced them. The Twindigo’s have a lot of live up too, but I really believe they are up to the challenge.
As penance for posting two things so close together, here is the dog tax.
3sixteen's shadow selvedge fabric is simply amazing. That fabric, and how it fades, were probably the inspiration for many of us to get into the hobby. One of the top denim innovations of the past decade
They still have lawnmower blades to sharpen, a console table to build, and a pergola top to add to my back porch! I'll hang onto them for a while longer
Its because of the shifting between washes I think. They generally held the same pattern, but moved juuuust a bit. Thanks!
Nice! You've got me looking through knifes now. So I'll probably have two by next week!
It was a pretty cheap Smith & Wesson branded knife initially that I used for everything. Decent steel that could hold an edge for a while. Just hooked the clip over the side. After I lost that (90% sure that it's in the weird void spot under my driver's seat) I grabbed an opinel 7 and modded a clip onto that. Accidentally went through an airport with it and had to surrender it to TSA on the return. Again just clipped it to the top of the back pocket on the outside edge so I wouldn't sit on it. I've got a little three blade folder that I'm using now, but it's small enough that I can use my front pocket for it.
I should get a new knife though. My problem is that I'm absent minded with stuff and set things down and forget them. So I don't wanna spend a lot of cash. Getting a Benchmade, Spyderco, or Kershaw for me is basically throwing money away.

A bunch of us on the Discord thought that we should stop talking about the posts we wanna do and do them. Just hoping to up the amount of content on the sub and hopefully introduce some new jeans to new people!
