Post Body

Different brands really do echo their environments. Some are modern and sleek, bringing to mind late nights in New York, LA, or Rome. Others bring to mind open spaces, and in my opinion, W.H. Ranch Dungarees embodies best what I think of as The West.

Ryan Martin is the sole operator for this brand which draws heavily from cowboy culture in the mid 20th century and he cuts and sews each pair to order. Currently he is offering up 6 regular fits ( 1 limited edition) and a jacket in a few different denim options based on what he has on hand. It looks like Lot 8 fabric (11.5 oz Cone White Oak unsanforized denim) comes standard, but in the past he has offered several interesting fabrics, including a really cool 1/2 sugar cane offering that I really wanted.

R1900 Gunslinger Pantaloon - a design inspired by gunslinger pants (what makes a pair of pants fit for a gunslinger? I'm not sure) that feature a pretty neat slanted front pocket design as opposed to the traditional 'scoop' pockets.

R1901 Icon Fit - A mid rise / straight leg fit that is pretty relaxed.

R1911 Slim Boot Fit - Slimmer in the top with a slight flare in the leg to accomodate your boots.

R1912 High Ryder - A slimmer cut with a pretty high rise. If high rises are your thing, definitely check out this pair.

R1914 Vintage Fit - A fuller top block with a slight taper down the legs.

R1936 Rodeo Ryder - If you are having troubles finding a pair of jeans to fit your legs because you refuse to skip leg day, then this may be perfect for you. High rise with some extra room in the top block and upper legs.

R1936 Rodeo Ryder × DWC Limited Edition - A cinch-back model with some extra bells and whistles made for DWC. Based on the Rodeo Ryder fit.

R1901J Cowboy Jacket - A jacket modeled after the Type 1.

Currently the following fabric rolls are available:

  • 13oz. Kuroki redline

  • 12oz. Japanese natural indigo

  • 11.25oz. Cone XX shrink to fit

  • 18oz. Kuroki redline

And....drumroll please...

  • Arriving in two weeks, the new 13.25oz. Cone natural indigo. Ryan will actually be the first person to produce a garment with it.

All of these fits feature a higher rise and larger legs than most other brands fits, and I know that won't work for some. But for others (me), W.H. Ranch Dungarees' offerings are pretty awesome. As each pair is basically made to order, you can customize some of the details, such as adding the gunslinger pockets to another fit.

If this quick spotlight has left you wanting more, head over and check out the W.H. Ranch Fade Gallery. There is some really cool stuff there.

ALSO...

Ryan has graciously said that he would be available tomorrow at 7 pm (Mountain Standard Time) for a couple hourse for an AMA!
