So I don't know all the details, but I've ran into a problem with my RPi being a tad unstable and crashing a lot, so I searched for a solution. I came across the Raspberry Pi's Watchdog Timer. From what I've read, basically if it doesn't get information from the device to show it's running properly, it'll reboot itself.
This means if the device crashes entirely, it'll take notice and reboot.
Why this isn't enabled by default, I'll never know.. But I'm more shocked that I've never even heard of it until now!
During my big wait for my first Raspberry Pi, I spent hours looking at "tips and tricks for Raspberry Pi" all over Google and while there were a ton of cool things..none seemed to mention Watchdog. For all the people making servers, services, or many of the other devices that are expected to run indefinitely, why isn't it mentioned in every other blog about RPi?
Anyways, if you don't know about it, it's pretty awesome and I've already seen it go to work. The article I found most helpful, along with how to set it up, is: http://binerry.de/post/28263824530/raspberry-pi-watchdog-timer
So the question for everyone else is: Is there anything about the Raspberry Pi that excites you but isn't widely known or acknowledged?
