I can’t watch sports anymore because most of them are ruined by ads on the sideline of the field. Not just static, unmoving billboards either, but screens with moving images that are constantly distracting you. It’s everywhere—soccer, rugby, track and field. I’m trying to watch some semi-obscure sport and I’m being bombarded with these images that are brighter and faster than the action on the field. I hate it. It ruins my enjoyment of the sport. And there’s nothing I can do but stop watching.
It’s bad enough that you can’t read a news article online with being bombarded with flashing images and auto-start videos, but now you can’t even watch a sport. When did this become accepted and normalized? It sucks. It’s worse than commercials—at least I can mute those or look away.
