I feel bad having things paid for by my parents although they are willing to themselves
Post Body

To give some clarity on this let me explain my background first

  • I am 20 years old and live 30 miles from Detroit, Michigan
  • My father is a contractor for a construction company and makes enough to put our family in the middle of middle and upper class
  • My mother does not work because she is a housewife and is partially disabled from a stroke before I was born
  • I am a college student at a University for Geographic Information Systems (maps basically) that is an hour away from my house
  • I work part time at a hotel as a night auditor

I am lucky enough to have my college paid, have a car to drive rom my parents since I was 16, and stay at home without paying anything expect

  1. food outside
  2. phone bill
  3. gym membership
  4. iTunes music bill

and I was paying for my gas but my parents decided to now start because it helps them with taxes on their card

The problem is I feel guilty!

I want to pay myself for these things because I feel more mature and have pride in myself. I don't like feeling like the rich kid that has daddy and mommy pay for everything but they tell me they are doing it because they want to see me succeed in college which I understand as well.

Most of my friends pay for their own bills which makes me feel like shit.

I am thinking about paying for the car insurance to overcompensate - am I a piece of shit?
