I have NEVER been a fan of using the dishwasher. My huge issue is that if there’s anything that’s even remotely dried up like sauce, syrup, cream cheese, etc I have to scrub that off before I put the plate/bowl in the dishwasher, or it will come out with stuff stuck to it still. So you scrub off the ketchup or whatever it is, and just like that the plate is already clean! Now why in the blue hell would I then put it in the dishwasher so I can use more water, cleaning supplies and wait 2 more hours? It’s genuinely always seemed like more of an inconvenience than just washing off the dish myself.
I just rinse and put things in my dishwasher and they come out great. I think it matters how you load it and what detergent you use.
Plus my dishwasher is only 5 years old, new when we moved in.

I've never done that with my dishwasher! My dishes come out nice and clean.
If anything ever isn't, it goes back thru.
