I'm so sick of being accosted every time I leave a store for a receipt.
When did this idea that we all have to sacrifice a little bit for walmarts bottom line start? And why do we just accept it?
You don't want to pay cashiers so you force the customers to scan their own items? Cool... I don't mind self checkout myself. But the principal of being forced to use it is annoying.
People keep stealing items so everything is locked up? Whatever. It's your store and you can do what you want with it I guess.
But why do you expect me to prove I'm not a theif when I leave the store? I've never stolen anything in my life. You don't need to see my receipt.
Sure it just takes a few seconds to give the receipt and let them look through my items. But I've already given you a few minutes doing self checkout. And I've already given you a few other minutes hunting down one of your sparce employees to unlock an item I need.
And these are my items. I paid for them. I don't want your employees hands rifling through them. But if I politely say "no thank you?", I'm the asshole for just wanting to go about my day?
Hard pass. I don't care if people steal from Walmart and I never will. It's not my problem. And I have no obligation to be part of the solution when I am not part of the problem.
Your store forced out small businesses to the point you are the only employer... and you pay your employees so bad that they live in poverty. You destroyed communities and now you want me to spent time proving I'm not a theif because crime went up because of your greed? Not going to happen.
But prices will go up if we all don't contribute to stopping theft! Bullshit. You are already charging the absolute most you can while still being competitive. That's how prices are determined. Theft hurts your profits... not the prices I pay.
Stopping theft in your store isn't some community effort we all have to help with. It is your problem.
So I'll keep saying "No thank you".

Do you REALLY care that some stranger is seeing what you bought? What’s the absolutely worst thing that could result from that?
And 5 seconds is literally nothing. Guarantee you’ve wasted far more time on less significant things
