Why are you all so against having a clear, easy to use, safe sidewalk after it snows?

A clear driveway and sidewalk makes it safer for everybody: delivery drivers, emergency personnel, kids walking to school, the elderly, people just out for a walk.
I'm not saying the disabled and financially strapped should make it their top priority, I'm saying if someone is capable, shouldn't they make that effort to create a safer environment for their community?
