I've had problems breathing most of my life. My nose always feels constricted, and I've been on almost every allergy and sinus medication in my adult life trying to fix this to no avail.
Recently I visited an ENT doctor who confirmed my suspicions - a deviation of the septum from a broken nose. It is treatable, but the surgery would set me out of work for a week and is financially unobtainable for me, even with insurance.
Now let's rewind to the incident. 15 y/o me, coming home from the job I worked and walking down the stairs to the basement of my parent's house where I lived. In the family room, my brother was sitting on the couch and I could instantly tell that he was high or drunk, or both. I vividly remember in a flash he stood up, hit me, and pinned me to the ground. He pinned my face to the ground by sticking his thumb in my mouth and holding my cheek between the ground and his thumb, picked himself up with his two arms, and then dropped his knee from above, right into my nose.
The pain was excruciating. There was lots of blood. I tried to defend myself but I was a child and he was a 27 year old man.
My parents did nothing. I healed, but incorrectly. And this still fucking haunts and effects me daily. I don't know what to do.
