My bonnet ( hood ) is stuck closed after it slammed while I was putting new hood shocks on .

I was trying to change the gas shocks and the hood slammed. Now it won’t open and the handle inside is loose , but it moves under the hood ( I can hear it ). The latch outside is tight like it’s jammed. Tried all kinds of things. Laying on the hood for pressure. Pulling the interior latch pretty hard. Lifting up on the hood a lot while working the outside release. Anyone ever have this happen?
