I bought a V1 sylvia that looked neglected. Everything worked fine when I bought it. Steam, hot water, and grouphead. All of it decided ill just clean it up and get it clean. It had the upgraded boiler already so i just wrapped it in insulation. Bought a new gasket because it leaked when the seller demoed it to me. Bought new switches because they were all faded.
Decided to run it through a descaler since my new grinder and tamper and WDT were coming in today. Upon turning on the hot water the pump never turned on. Which didn't happen when I first got it. Valve was open but no hot water. With the boiler up to temp the steam works perfectly. I turn it off and turn the hot water on and still only steam coming out.
Turn off the hot water and then turn on the espresso switch and hot water pour out the group head as should happen. I open the steam valve and hot water comes out. Turn off the espresso switch, the pump shuts off, and turn on the hot water switch and the pump doesn't turn back on. Steam starts shooting out. I close the valve and turn off the hot water switch and turn on the espresso switch and pump kicks on. I open the valve and hot water comes pouring out.
This is where I fuck up. In my frustration, I forget to turn off the espresso switch and turn on the hot water switch and instantly I hear an arc and thick white smoke comes out of my Sylvia. I turn off all the switches and unplug the machine from the outlet and take it outside. All my wires inside are melted and so is the power cable. Switches look fine. And now I have to wait longer to have some espresso.
So if anyone has a wiring diagram for the Sylvia with the upgraded boiler with the removable element please kindly share!
