Wanted to get some thoughts on towing an 8,300 lb 30 ft camper with a 21 Ram 1500. Has anyone towed anything that big with these trucks? Looking for real world experience. I know what the book says about towing capacity but like I said looking for real world experiences!
In my experience, this would not be a safe combination. The question isn't whether there is sufficient power to tow the camper down the highway. The question is how well will the suspension handle a wind gust or a sudden stop or a dip in the road. The weight of the camper (plus all your gear) is heavier than the rug I was towing and I upgraded to a 2500 last year (had owned a couple previously). Zero regrets. Zero. Night and day difference in the entire driving experience.
