What do we know about the interference field? And some ideas

Post Body

Spoilers inside I guess.

Few questions:

  • The intereference field had some kind of hexagonal shape, right? it seems not natural, but ariticialy made

  • Colony was shielded, while the Atheist Arc had to land just outside it. But was the coast under the effect or not? Lots of marcus visions occur there.

  • Mother damaged it, as she says. Did she destroy all of it, or just the part above the colony?

  • Do we see ground holes in the interference protected part? I know of one in the ocean near the coast, and the one Marcus went down into. Where both of those in the interference zone? I would say so, but not sure.

My theory (can't resist sharing it), is pretty vanilla as far as theories go. It rests on the idea that Kepler was original home of the advanced civilization of Technocrats (in opposition of Grandma being just previous cycle of colonists arriving which i guess is another possibility)

Entity is likely (but not necessary for the rest of theory) Trust on steroids, which at ancient past used advanced mind control technologies (which we see Trust experiment on) to subvert and control the entirety of the advanced population of the planet, perhaps after the war destroyed the planet. As a counter, the remaining free populace created the interference over the planet to stop the Entity's signal and protect themselves. it had the downside of also shutting down most of advanced technology they relied on. They then had to create Shepards to guide the flocks of technologically unassisted humans in this new environment (and also sent an expedition to Earth). The plan had cracks though, and the Entity was weakened but not completely powerless. The relics, tablets and fragments of other technologies of the ancients (potentially left on the moons as well) allowed some influence despite the interference field. So it slowly began recruiting cultists that started working on the whole serpent thing. (I think in one of the interviews of season 1 the creator said that the hexagonal device in which the ancient vision android birthed the serpent was a containment device, potentially meaning cultist kidnapped a Shepard to force it to birth the serpent). The serpents then went to "destroying the planet" but I think their purpose is disabling the interference field - which kept the planet habitable so only by extension would it destroy the planet. They for some reason had to dig holes to do so, as they couldn't fly? Not sure what's up with digging holes or why they couldn't fly before. Anyway, the serpents removed much of the field. But before finishing the job were thwarted, likely by Grandma's devolving of the remaining humans or perhaps some kind of last ditch war against them which destroyed the Serpents but also rest of the Shepards.

Fast forward, events on Earth are influenced by scriptures and relics - or perhaps directly by Entity itself - and they lead to colonization of Kepler, which Entity wants in order to be able to rebirth the serpents which are needed to finish the job that in my theory is removing the interference field.

The entity also has some fixation on children and babies, not sure what's up with that. Maybe the Entity needs humans as batteries processors or something to function, so wants to increase their numbers as soon as possible. This make sense from the Entity side, but honestly not sure why Grandmother would object to that if it meant humans would keep being alive?

Bonus thoughts:

  • Father is definitely a special android, as it seems necromancer weapons don't hurt him. OG Campion S purposefully put him there to counter Mother and mother like tech. Perhaps against Mithraist necromancers, or perhaps if Mother went crazy herself. Whether he is ancient droid Camp S discovered and reprogrammed or a new invention remains open.

  • Campion the boy is both radiation resistant as well as loving to Androids. Will he be the bridge to gap the human-android-kepler divide?

  • Grandma's devolving is through a hologram and takes time? The "alien" in the cave devolved immediatly via nanobots? Not sure why the difference
