Does anyone else's N-parent take pride in their narcissistic tendencies, yet get insulted when you call them "narcissist?"

My dad takes so much pride in this idea that he is smarter and better than anyone on the planet. He also takes pride in the disgusting way he talks about women, as if they're only on the planet to serve his sexual needs. He proudly calls himself an asshole and acknowledges that he is constantly belligerent to nearly everyone he meets.
But OH MY FUCKING GOD when I called him a narcissist I was "hurling insults."
