It's anyone else really good at passive, non committal answers?

Post Body

I'm LC with my family, was trying to do it for years and finally managed when I moved out of state in 2019. But now that I'm out, I notice every time I talk to them, my communication style changes drastically. With my friends I'm opinionated and if someone says something I disagree with, I can comment on it, have a healthy discussion. With my family? I just start saying things like "yeah, I understand where you're coming from. No, yeah, I completely understand your logic. Yeah, what you're saying makes perfect sense." Which is all factually true. I under stand their logic and what they are saying, it's just all terribly flawed, and they aren't considering all of the options for it. (for example dumb things like the ground is wet, so it rained. If I point out that everything else is dry, so it was probably just a sprinkler, I get shouted down for being wrong, when in actuality I just added more information and came to a new, more logical answer given the new information about it.) So I don't want to outright agree with (lie about) whatever they are saying, but I don't want to start an argument. So I just answer in a non committal way that they assume means I agree. Does anyone else catch themselves doing this? I would guess it's a form of grey rocking, but I haven't ever been able to do it before, so I'm not sure?
