My (m22) sister (f27) doesn’t seem to understand that screaming at the cat when she doesn’t do what she wants is the same abuse she received as a child.

On mobile sorry for formatting. This happened moments ago and I still can’t wrap my brain around it. I woke up to my sister following our older cat Winslow (7-9 the vets not sure, she was a stray) and just, berating her. Yelling at her not to pee on the floor and picking her up and tossing her into the litter box. Understandably so, THE CAT DOESN’T WANT TO BE IN THE LITTER BOX NOW. I tried explaining to her the cats probably freaking out right now that she keeps following her, yelling, and grabbing her. That screaming at her is only going to trigger her and she’s not going to want to pee in the litter box now. Trying to explain this was the same type of abuse she and I both received as kids. Our nmom would shit on us and follow us around the house when we didn’t do exactly as she demanded. She would just reply to me “nice try that’s now how this works I can’t ask her nicely to stop.” Uhhhh.. that’s exactly how it works? Animals do have feelings, especially cats that can be spooked sooooo easily. I thought moving in with her would be great for both of us as we ran out of our house as soon as we could, but it just seems she’s a mini version of our nmom...
