So a little back story. I have a Nmom and two older sisters, like way older. My middle sister is 13 years older than me, with a 10-year-old kid, married. Unfortunately, her husband passed away in December from cancer. I never got along with him, nor did I really have any specific connection with her. Now, with COVID she's home alone with my nephew and my Nmom is trying to guilt-trip me into going to visit her almost every day.
Why should I go out of my way to visit her and be all "nice nice" when before all this with her husband we never had that close of a relationship anyway? Nmom tries to make me feel bad cause her step-sisters, from her husband's side, "ghosted" her, while again, they never really had a close relationship anyways before any of this.
Now to explain why I do not want to be all "nice nice," she is like a ticking time bomb. Always was. She has severe anger issues towards her kid. And personally, coming from a household where my mom and dad would yell on a routine basis, I just don't want to be around that. I also don't feel like playing with my nephew that's 10, while I am 24. Personally I am an introvert so I like staying home unless I go out with friends I am comfortable with. I love them both, they are family, but does it make me a bad person for not wanting to fake a "nice nice" relationship with them???
