So i feel like this is pretty tame compared to other posts I see on here but I will share anyways. Excuse me for incorrect formatting because this is my first post here.

I’ve been a lurker here since I was referred this past summer from one of my other posts and my Nmom recently sent me over the edge.

I’m in college (18 SoNM) about 1500 miles away. This was against my Nmoms wishes who wanted me to stay local and play baseball. I decided to go away to school because I got a hefty scholarship and I’m grateful for that.

So I got involved with someone fairly early and we fell for each other hard. We didn’t let this distract us from our studies, but essentially we spent a lot of time together and my Nmom didn’t like this. She would deliberately call me when she saw I was out with her (she has a tracking app on my phone) and would feign ignorance as far as using it.

When I went home for break, my girlfriend and I got into fights because of internal relationship problems, but my mom wasn’t helping. She would constantly bad mouth her and tell me I should end it. I eventually did after a bad fight we had, and now I’m back in school.

It’s now a new semester and my ex and I decided we should be friends so we have started hanging out more, but this is purely platonic. My Nmom ASSUMES that I am hanging out with her for other reasons (sexual or romantic) and when she saw I was hanging out with her, she blew up my phone. I answered and my Nmom bad mouthed my friend IN FRONT OF HER. She called me the next day and told my friend to “keep me distracted so I don’t go back”. I found this in particular to be utterly disrespectful and appalling.

So I told my dad about this. They had a bad divorce when I was younger and it somehow got back to my Nmom who texted me last night telling me not to talk to her until I “got a job and a haircut”. I planned on doing both but it’s the end of the first week of school. So today I’m going about my day to find out she shut off my cellular data to my phone.

I never even knew she could do this. I’m completely devastated that she would even do this but I’m more pissed that she thinks she had control over me like this. And for the record, I’m not upset that I can’t use my phone because I can live without it at the end of the day, I’m upset that I don’t have power over her.
