My brother is six years younger than me, and got engaged to a really sweet girl this summer. My parents love her, which is surprising, and after she got off work late last night, she came over; my brother had spent most of the day here.
We all exchanged gifts before eating, everything was really pleasant and smooth, and then my brother said they had one more gift, and went to the car to retrieve a small gift bag. They informed us that it was for all of us, but handed it to EMom to open. She pulled out a Christmas ornament, and was like “Oh, that’s cute!” And I realized before she did, before dad did, what exactly it was. The side that SHE was reading said “and baby makes three” which confused her, but the side facing me said “We’re expecting! 2019” Dad said “oh neat, a Christmas ornament, and I screamed “NO ITS NOT NO ITS NOT, GIVE IT TO DAD!!” And then finally, my mom started to cry. We all hugged and cried and laughed and I yelled at my brother for sitting straightfaced all day without saying anything XD
I’m gonna be an aunt. And I have a good opportunity to help shield a child from crazy, and help nurture a child’s emotional health.
Merry Christmas, everyone. I’m so excited I could hardly sleep last night!
