Followup on A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood unpopular opinion: reddit leaps to the defense of the movie and downvotes me to hell *possible trigger warning*
Post Body

I posted here a few weeks back about my dislike of the Mr. Rogers movie "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" (here). Today, I was reading a general movies subreddit and a post came up about the movie, so I took an opportunity to speak out about what I see as a film that enables and normalizes abuse. Boy, oh boy, did reddit not like hearing that. Here are a few screenshots of peoples' comments to me.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I still am. It's easy to forget, in our supportive community here, that the vast majority of people have zero sympathy for abuse victims, and, as evident in some of those comments, don't even believe certain actions are abuse. I realize that that's likely because many of them are abuse victims, or abusers themselves, in denial, but it's still disheartening and hurtful.
