I was at a rock concert a few weeks ago looking forward to seeing my all time favorite band. One of the opening bands is called Sonata Artica. I was enjoying their set but the last song resonated a bit with me and I haven't been able to get it out of my head. It's called "I Have a Right". Here are the lyrics that hit me.
I have a right to be heard, To be seen, to be loved, to be free, To be everything I need to be me, To be safe, to believe in something
It's hard to put into words to explain why the song won't leave me but I think it has to do with my Nmom denying in a lot of ways those rights. It's taken years for me to feel like I have the right to be heard, to be seen and mostly importantly to be loved. Makes me wonder if Tony Kakko, the lead singer of SA, was raised by narcs. I'll provide a link (hopefully it's not against the rules).
