Post Body

I had the pleasure of spending a few hours in public with the NMom today, and I noticed something kinda funny. She kept bumping into people she "sorta" knew, but automatically assumed they knew her because she's such a "big shot." Every conversation she had with someone, she just rambled on and on and on and wouldn't stop talking about herself. I could tell that the people she had been talking to were looking for a polite way out, but she didn't pick up on any of their signals at all.

I was anxious as hell all day spending time with her, but that was just a realization I had today. Perhaps it isn't even a lack of reading social cues, it's just that the narcs don't care. On our way home, she said, "You're awfully quiet, is something wrong?" I just answered with a brief no, and she just starts rambling again. Oh, NMom.
