I started my new canvasser job yesterday and so far itās been great. I got to engage with Democractic voters about an upcoming congressional race that could decide if the U.S House flips to the Democrats. It pays $25 an hour and I work 5 days a week part time. While it might be temporary, itās another great add to my resume and my next goal is applying for a full time government job with one of the surrounding cities before this current job ends in mid November.
Anyways, I brought up to my dad that I would miss their church services more often since Iāll be working weekends and he wasnāt too happy about it unsurprisingly. He went into a mini lecture about how I need to get a regular job so I donāt miss Sundays but to me, his comment came off as hypocritical. I say that because my older brother has missed plenty of Sundays as a firefighter and my dad never lectured him.
Iām kind of just thinking out, but I think part of why he hasnāt lectured my brother is because my brotherās felt ācalledā to preach the past year so my dad might see him as a replacement if he were to step down from pastoring his church which has no members after almost a decade of being there. My brother also keeps pushing him to stay there for the same reason and all thatās doing is causing my parents to throw thousands of dollars down the drain every month.
