So I had a memory from my very early childhood of my parents beating my older sister (who would've been 15 at the time) half to death because she stayed up talking to a Muslim boy (parents are devout Hindus). I confronted my mum about it on the phone yesterday. She went from outright denial of the event, to "your father may have been a little bit violent", to "we did what we had to do as parents to put you kids on the right path, to stop you becoming drug addicts, etc." in a period of 10 minutes. What would be your response to that?
