Just a whirlwind rant for you.
She died last month. She battled substance issues and was not a great human overall. She abused my sister and I for a long time. I hadn’t had contact with her in over 3 years.
The police showed up at my door to inform next of kin. I was so shocked it finally happened and so irritated she still had me as her NOK and her executrix. She always left me holding the bags. So I deal with family, plan her funeral, get her house emptied out and inform all the people. I was finally closing out to the end when I find out she didn’t name a beneficiary for her insurance meaning not only did any money we would have received dwindling but now I have to deal with even more tasks.
Literally continuing to eff me from the grave. I cannot WAIT until I can get this shtuff dealt with and close the chapter of her, FOREVER.
Ugh.
Fortunately, those debts won’t be yours once you prove the accounts are insolvent so you don’t have to stress about that. It’s just way easier overall if someone has a will.
This is true, they will take as much as they can from the estate but once it’s gone, it’s gone. Not your responsibility
