My mom has a rare type of blood cancer. She takes chemo daily. Itās hard but itās not a super invasive cancer, itās called polycythemia Vera. Mom takes tons of other medicine for issues, like bipolar (obviously) and thyroid condition. She also has a bunch of other medical issues I havenāt been able to verify. Maybe you understand if youāre bipolar parent has the hypochondriac thing going on. I donāt know. She is constantly āsickā. Iād like to believe most of the time itās real, I think it is. The thing is Iāve caught her being dishonest/confused many times about ailments. At one point, I thought she may be going into early stages dementia because she was so out of it, got into several car accidents, was confused a lotā¦took her to a geriatric specialist where it came out she hadnāt been taking her bipolar meds for a year. A couple months later she denied this ever happened. The latest was a couple months ago she told my dad she was having organ failure, even showed him documentation of this. I was devastated and approached her about it, she showed me the paperwork which absolutely did not say she was having organ failure. I believe she genuinely thought she was. I donāt know. Now sheās denying that ever happened. The thing is, after all these years of all this manipulation, she still makes me feel like Iām the one whoās losing it. Iām so tired of this. She lives with me and my husband and two kids. Sheās retired and canāt work anyways because of the pandemic and her high risk for Covid. Every time someone confronts her about her doing something vicious or being dishonest, she suddenly is very sick, mostly aches and pains but often flu like symptoms magically manifest when sheās not up for a conversation. Sheās mistakenly forgotten to take sleep/bipolar meds and been up for days at a time with manic symptoms but denied this as well. I literally had to go into her medication and show her that she was taking reflux meds instead of bipolar meds. This was really just a rant. Thanks if you read this.
