The gud

The game looks absolutely fantastic from how the creatures move to the detailed backrounds, aside from Blasphemous, its the best pixel art Ive ever seen. I also love the backrounds and overall style of the game, I really like the post apocalypse setting with destroyed buildings and pipes and graffiti on walls.

I also really enjoy the music and overall sound design a lot.

I also think the slugcat themselves moves really uniquely, while it did take a bit to get used to I enjoy how actually nimble and slimy it feels to play. Crawling through tight spaces, doing little backflips in the air, hanging onto staffs and spears, it's quite fun. I also like that you can use spears as ledges if thrown into the wall.

I think the creatures are fun so far, its fun to figure out how to damage them and how to outplay them.

The bad

The camera is extremely wonky, I dont know why it couldnt just center around the slugcat and only change when changing rooms. It makes platforming a little awkward at times and you cant see creatures in the same room as you often because they are on the other half of the screen. I also dont enjoy how creatures sometimes camp pipes and tight spots.

The rain mechanic is something I am mixed on, I understand why it exists but it often feels like the game is fun policing.

The game would really benefit from explaining the damns and when they open up, while I did figure it out on my own, it seems to be the main gameplay mechanic (aside from the rain itself).

The minimap opens in an abysmal speed

The ugly

The amount of content you have to replay upon death mixed with how many unfair deaths you'll get is unbearable at times. This is the sort of thing where I dont understand what the developers were thinking, it seems like such an objective and obvious oversight that its hard to believe its even there. Having to replay an entire day, two if you die again, does nothing but stall time, especially when you (like me right now) died in a new area, couldnt safe yet and now have to replay several days to open the damn again. This is the same problem that plagued Fear and Hunger (although to a much greater degree), say it with me folks, REPLAYING MINUTES/HOURS OF CONTENT IS NOW GOOD GAMEPLAY, ITS ANNOYING AND SLOPPY.

With that being said the game is really fun and I cant wait to play the DLC(s). :3
