Arena Issue on Switch

Hello r/Rainworld! Its me, Slugcat Kirby, back with another depressing issue ;w;Me and some friends tried to play the arena game mode on Nintendo switch but could not get it working! Whenever we paired controllers, player 1 simply would not connect! I tried again on a different account (with clear saves, I still had 1 going on my other account) and it worked perfectly fine! I am simply confuzzled. If any of you have a solution, I would appreciate the help.
