I grew up in England next to a railroad track and station and now live in Utah near Union station and the golden spike so trains have always been a part of my life. I've seen it happen and have seen countless videos of trains hitting cars people or in my case a cow ( good that cow was an ass to bad it wasn't my ex-wife). I never really thought about it but what happens afterwards you see the car ahead of you do you call it in then boom just keep going or do you stop check it out I dunno just curious. Thanks in advance
Really?
I’m a trucker here in the US. Mandatory drug test within 8 hours of an incident that resulted in one or more vehicles being disabled, caused injury, or caused fatality. Regardless of fault.
They’ll breathalyzer you on the scene, too.
When I was a long haul trucker we had a safety memo go out that we were required to stop and check after animal strikes.
Apparently a driver hit a deer, dismembered it, and drove a good 60 miles with the head stuck in the deer guard on the front. Pulled into the company HQ like that.

I’m so sorry you experienced that. Hugs from one stranger to another.
I’ve had two extremely close calls as a trucker. One jumper who bounced off the truck instead of going under and was relatively fine, and the other a drunk standing on an unlit highway after he rolled his pickup.
Both times I had to finish out my shift. First one, no days off, got a “sucks bro” from the boss.
Second I got two days off and my (different) boss offered to cover the rest of the week if needed. I had to take two months off this year because my PTSD was so bad I’d have a panic attack as soon as I got behind the wheel of a vehicle. Had to ride my bike everywhere. Still do, though I have been back driving the trucks for a bit.
I still have nightmares where I’m driving the rig and the brakes don’t work, causing me to plow through something.
I’ll be leaving the transportation industry entirely, soon. Gotta sell the car and stash some cash, then I’m applying to nursing school. At least I’ll be able to do something for the ones that make it, yknow?
