I’ve been interested in railroads cause I’m younger and I didn’t realize the money in it can be pretty lucrative. I see a lot complain about work life balance, for the record I am 25 and no wife or kids so home life isn’t necessarily the most important for me right now. I also bartend full time as well so working weekends/holidays/nights haven’t really been an issue.
Aside from that, I understand being on call and asked to work but there has to be a certain limit of how many days/hours in a row you can work before you are granted a day off? You must have some sort of vacation time and request days off too. Even if not for instance, I don’t have request time off as a bartender but I can ask other employees to switch with me, would that be something possible on a railroad?
Thanks for any insight
