Hey everyone!
Welcome to Weekly Update 140. This week we’ll share some news from the goals planning session and we will also check the usual weekly development progress. Let’s dig in!
New development milestones
Around a month ago the Raiden development team prioritized several development goals as short term priorities. These goals included: the new release of the Raiden Service Bundle (completed), finishing up the webRTC support in the Raiden Client (completed) and the initial implementation of the CTNP feature. Since most of the goals from the initial list are either completed or very close to completion, the Raiden development team decided to plan the next steps.
As a result, the scope of the Bespin development milestone was defined and Coruscant, a whole new milestone, was introduced. The current plan is to include all the changes which don't require an upgrade of smart contracts in the Bespin development goal. After the Bespin release is out the Raiden development team will start working on the new features which will require the upgrade and redeployment of the smart contracts.
Two of the most important features Bespin will introduce is the complete webRTC support and time optimization of the initial sync by filtering blockchain events more selectively. Currently the list of features which will be introduced with the Coruscant release isunknown.
Development progress
In parallel to planning future goals, the Raiden development team also worked on the current ones.
The release of version 1.2.0 of the Raiden Client remains a priority. In order for it to be ready, several smaller issues related to the webRTC support and Matrix transport need to be resolved. The new releases of the Raiden Services and the RSB were further tested and all the RSB operators successfully upgraded to the latest versions.
The Raiden light client was further tested on the Ethereum mainnet.
Conclusion
This is all for this week. In addition to planning and further development progress, a couple of interesting projects joined the Raiden grant program and we are looking forward to seeing them being implemented. For any additional questions just leave a comment and we will try to come up with the best answer we have.
Cheers!
