Post Body

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Weekly Update 139. For this week we’ll be covering some of the exciting events of ETHOnline along the development progress with things such as service release preparation and a new Raiden client release. Let’s dig in!

ETHOnline Raiden workshop

ETHOnline, ETHGlobal is one of the largest Ethereum events of this year and it’s in full effect. Hackers started working on their hacks and every day there are interesting workshops and presentations. The Raiden team is one of the hackathon sponsors and to help hackers get started, they organized a workshop last Monday.

Jacob from the Raiden team hosted the workshop diving into all things payment channels. The workshop was kicked off with a short overview of what Raiden is and how it works, while later Jacob explained more technical details of the Raiden API. The end of the workshop was dedicated to a Q&A session and brainstorming ideas. The video is available on YouTube and gives a nice intro to the Raiden protocol even if you don’t have a strong technical background.

Over the years a lot of awesome projects were built during similar events and we are looking forward to seeing the new hacks built using Raiden.

Development progress

The Raiden development team started working on new—post Alderaan—features and functionalities around 2 months ago. Currently, the first wave of the new features is almost ready and the Raiden development team is in the process of debugging and preparing the services bundle for the new releases.

The Raiden Wizard was the first service that got the new release a couple of weeks ago. Raiden services and Raiden service bundle both got updated to the new version last week. With the latest upgrade, Raiden services are now compatible with the latest Synapse version. A new version of the Raiden client (v1.2.0) and the Raiden light client are also close to being ready.

Conclusion

That’s all we have for you in this Weekly Update. We love seeing event participation so it was exciting to cover ETHOnline and Jacob joining the remote event. Along with that excitement, a new Raiden client (v1.2.0) was released.

Don’t forget to leave a comment if there’s anything about Raiden Network that you’re curious about. You can also join the Raiden Gitter or the community in Telegram chat if that’s your preferred medium and we’re happy to dive into any questions! See you again next week.

Cheers!
