Post Body

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Weekly Update 137. For this update we’ll be covering the progress that the Raiden team has been working on, gearing up for the upcoming release with the Raiden Service API. The team has also been working on the first simple tests of Cross Token Network Payments. Let’s dive in!

ETHOnline

ETHGlobal, the organisation behind the ETHOnline event, has a long history of organising events all across the world. The Raiden network team regularly participated in those events (ETHSingapore and ETHCapeTown being some of them). Current global situation doesn’t allow for such events to be organised and ETHGlobal decided to come up with a new format.

ETHOnline will be ETHGlobals biggest event of the year. Hackathon will last for 3 weeks and hackers will have the opportunity to get their share of $100k in various prizes. Summits kick off on Friday, October 2nd and will continue for the next 4 weeks.

The Raiden team announced their participation at the ETHOnline. Details on the prize Raiden team will sponsor are still not known, so make sure to follow the official Raiden twitter account for updates.

Development progress

In the previous Weekly Update we covered the very nice progress on the integration of the WebRTC support in the Raiden client and the progress towards the new release of the Raiden Service Bundle (RSB). During this past week the Raiden development team did additional testing of the WebRTC integration during which a couple of minor issues were discovered and addressed. Additionally they also started preparing Raiden Service API for the new release.

The third major short term development goal, Cross Token Network Payments (CTNP), has also seen some progress. The first simple test which simulates a CTNP using the Raiden client has been successfully completed and merged to the code base. This test will serve as a benchmark for all the future development related to CTNP implementation.

Conclusion

That’s everything we have for this Weekly Update. In case you need it in our previous update, the team has created universal bounties as extra incentive for building scalable decentralized applications on Raiden’s simple API. If you’re a buidler then we’d definitely recommend giving it a go! As always, if you have any questions about this update or Raiden Network in general then please leave a comment and we’ll get back to you the best we can.

Cheers!
