Hey everyone!
Welcome to Weekly Update 136. This week we will check out the new initiative that the Raiden team started in collaboration with Gitcoin and we will also check out the development team’s progress on the short-term development goals. Let’s dig in!
Universal Raiden Gitcoin Grant
Raiden Network has a long history of collaborations with Gitcoin. Some of the recent events Raiden participated at include Preserve Privacy and Grow Ethereum virtual hackathons.
Last week, a new initiative for projects and developers interested in building (d)Apps on top of the Raiden Network was introduced. The Raiden team decided to offer a universal Gitcoin grant in order to encourage more members of the dev community to check out all the scaling benefits Raiden has to offer.
The requirements and instructions on how to apply can be found here. If you already have some ideas about dApps built on top of Raiden, make sure to apply. The Raiden development team will help you with advice and you also have the potential to receive a helpful grant to support you.
Development progress
There are two major development updates from the past week.
First one is that the WebRTC MVP (Minimal Viable Product) version was successfully merged in the Raiden Client repository. WebRTC is an important performance upgrade to the transport layer and will ensure even faster payments. The second major development update is that a new version of Raiden Services was introduced. The new version includes new API endpoints which will serve all the metrics. The new endpoints will be used in the new RSB (Raiden Service Bundle) dashboard which should soon be completed.
Conclusion
That’s it for this week. Universal Gitcoin Grant already sparked interest and first projects are starting to apply. In parallel, the Raiden development team is very close to completing 2 out of 4 major development goals they started working on a couple weeks ago. As always, we are here for any questions you might have!
Cheers!
