Welcome to Weekly Update 132. This week we’ll be focusing on the Stakenet layer 2 integration and how it relates to Raiden Network and then going into our usual GitHub development progress. Let’s dig in!

Stakenet Raiden integration progress update

In the Weekly Update 127 we looked into the project the Stakenet team is building and how they plan to integrate the Raiden network into their solution. They’ve made significant progress in terms of development over the last month and they are preparing for the next steps.

Stakenet L2 DEX, which will enable cross-chain trading by integrating Raiden and Lightning network, will soon enter the open beta phase. If you are interested in joining the beta testing you can find all the information on the Stakenet official twitter profile. Stakenet community and developers are very friendly and they will give their best to get you started.

Over the past several months we are witnessing an extreme surge in gas prices which makes it almost impossible for the average person to interact with the Ethereum chain due to very high fees. By integrating L2 scaling solutions such as Raiden, dApps have the opportunity to drastically reduce cost of operating for their users while offering faster transactions and better UX.

Development progress

Refactoring and maintenance continued during the last week. A lot of important dependencies were tested and updated in the Raiden client alongside a couple of major refactoring tasks which significantly simplified parts of code.

New minor release of the Raiden light client was introduced. Balin testnet release makes the Raiden light client compatible with the latest smart contracts.
