I know this isn’t like the normal content on here, but I figured I’d share since it just happened. A little backstory, I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years and have even owned a restaurant (family owned). So once I started college I began working part time as a busyboy to get some sort of income. Now I work at this BBQ style restaurant we sell a lot of smoked meats and sandwiches. The plates get VERY disgusting especially if people mix their food. It’s my job to take the plates and put them in the tubs and take them to the dishwasher. We have 3-5 different dishwashers in total but I’m always scheduled with ED (entitled dishwasher). He not only shows up late but complains about all the dirty fucking dishes. I come into work 30 mins before him and I understand his pain because the dish pit is full of bus tubs leading out the back door. Now ED comes into work and says hi to everyone except me.. Instead he attacks me and says I’m not doing any work and that I’m lazy. According to ED it’s my job to grab all the clean plates in the back and bring them to the kitchen so they can use them.. Now in some restaurants this is the case, but where I work it’s not it’s the dishwasher and food runners job. Now I always do stock plates for the kitchen because the food runner comes in an hour after me and the dishwasher so I at least try and help out. But sometimes ED makes me wanna knock his lights out. New Year’s Day wasn’t gonna be busy I knew that for a fact, but I still stacked plates before he came and the kitchen was filled to the brim. Yet again as soon as he comes in ED says “PLATES CABRON, come on you lazy fuck do your job”. I shrug it off because I did it already. As the shift progresses the dishes aren’t being cleaned and I’m taking more and more back. I go downstairs to grab a new cloth to clean a spill and I see ED changing in the corner booty ass naked. Now he normally takes off his shirt and changes into something else but today he for whatever reason chose to get naked. I ran back upstairs and nearly puked. (Seeing a naked old man will do that). He finally starts cleaning some dishes and my floor manager tells me to go help him and she’ll bus tables. I agreed (stupid me). I asked ED what he needed and he said “plates get the plates you never get” so sure enough I “get” some plates. I grab another full bus run (at this point there’s no walking room in the dish pit and ED is blaming me for doing my job). A server walks into the back with me I was looking for a spot to put the bus tub and the server let’s call him Kev, walked in front of me looking for silverware. ED stares at me and says “dumbass put the tub there! God you never do your job!” He says that while the head chef is behind me let’s call him Nic. Nic looks at me and mouthes “go with it” and starts to “yell” at me in-front of ED to which he interrupts, “Nic you gotta fire this fucker he doesn’t do anything! He doesn’t grab plates or clean anything his worthless” (now pause for a second. I’m the only busboy with any restaurant experience and the only one who is trusted with the alcohol and stocking/grabbing it along with other things) Nic looks at me and then turns to ED and starts yelling at him in Spanish. ED is Hispanic and understands Spanish better. Nic starts going off on ED, saying things like “ED it’s YOUR job to clean the dishes it’s in the title DISHWASHER. The kid doesn’t have to help you with anything! He’s constantly doing his job. I personally helped you and cleaned half of your dishes and you started an hour ago and there’s still 8 tubs what the hell have you been doing?!” At this point ED and the Nic got into a screeching match for 30 mins meanwhile I walked away and my manager was confused but understanding. Nic came out and talked with my manager and for the night I tried to ignore ED until another server fought with him let’s call her Cory. The whole interaction lasted 5 mins but Cory went into the back to get clean silverware to roll for the next day. ED “cleaned” some of them but they were still disgusting Cory went to grab them and told ED to clean them again because they were still disgusting ED look Cory in the eyes and blared “that’s not my job you gotta clean those I did my job now do your job!” Cory yelled “EW that’s FUCKING DISGUSTING!! You’re not making me do your job”. ED then sexually harassed Cory and she screamed so loud it shook the restaurant.. Nic yelled at ED again and told him to finish his job and leave ED yelled at nick and just left the restaurant with nothing and quit on the spot.
