Let me just get the big reveal out of the way. I want to go on a silent date. So if touch is your love language, and if physical affection makes you feel secure, maybe you’ll find some joy in this too.

I’m quiet and introverted. I love getting to know people on dates, but it does tend to leave me feeling drained. So here’s what I’d like. We’ll get in touch, exchange a few messages here on Reddit. We’ll move to video chat to verify each other. Then, we’ll get to planning.

First, what would we like to do? Maybe a fall hike? Walk by the water? Maybe art galleries are more your speed. Perhaps we’ll each pick a book store to show the other person.

Next, let’s talk touch. We’ll create a list of physical interactions that we’re both comfortable with, and what they mean. Want to show me something? Touch my arm. Like what I have to show you? Squeeze my hand. I’ll give you my arm when we walk. Put my hand on the small of your back to guide you where we’re going. We’ll communicate just by touch all evening. I’d love to always be touching in some way. Maybe our legs touch while we’re sitting, or you’re leaning against my arm while we’re admiring some art.

I’m open to more than one date, but if this is just a one time thing that’s totally fine. Maybe it doesn’t work and it’s just awkward. Maybe we both love it.
