Hello r4rToronto,
I am making this post for two reasons. 1) I want to answer some common questions I get about this service. 2) to let you know that there are openings for this week, the week of August 13th.
As some of you may know I offer private pasta cooking sessions wherein I teach you how to make pasta dough by hand, roll it out, cut it, cook it, and make a simple sauce. I offer guidance and I show you my techniques that I use at home to make my favorite dishes.
Here are some questions in order of frequency.
1) Are you Italian?
a) No, I'm not. I'm sorry - I know - Italian men can be extremely attractive. I am not one of those guys.
2) Do I have to pay for anything?
a) No, you do not. I buy the groceries and I bring the equipment. If you REALLY want to give me money for the groceries, you can, but I'll most likely just leave it at your place.
3) Can you host?
a) no I do not host. While I do have the facilities to host, I do not like to. I'm a bad host and I always forget to offer a glass of water.
4) How long have you been making pasta?
a) I started learning when I was about 8 years old. My neighbor was an older Italian woman that babysat me after school until my parents came home from work. She taught me how to cook. I stopped making pasta for a while but when I started again it was like I never took a break.
5) (during the downtime when the pasta is resting) what kind of activities do you want to do?
a) That is for you to surprise ME with! Typically, one of the first questions I ask is "what do you want to do while the dough is resting?" and the best answer is usually the person I book the appointment with.
6) Why do you only post M4F posts and not M4A posts?
a) I've done this with guys before. The first time I tried it I felt uncomfortable. Long story short I dumped everything in the sink, packed up my stuff, and I left. I respect people's boundaries and I expect for people to respect mine - period.
7) Does the activity have to be sexual?
a) Of course not. I'm not against the idea of it, but I can also appreciate someone's company beyond a physical interaction. One of my favorite sessions was with a small group where we sat around a coffee table, turned the lights off and told ghost stories. Some of them "true" and some of them questionable, all of them - amazing.
8) Why do you do this?
a) One of the main reasons for it is that I like to teach. Another reason, I like to meet people. What better way than to hang out, make pasta, eat it, and share stories.
I love to meet people and I love to share this simple, fun craft. If you're interested, shoot me a DM. Things change seasonally, so keep that in mind. Let me know about food allergies/intolerances. If you have requests or questions that I didn't answer - feel free to DM me and ask.
I do request that people that confirm appointments with me send me information about themselves and a picture of themselves, so I know who it is I'm meeting with. I will do the same in return when I feel confident that you aren't going to try to murder me in the woods or something.
