If you'd have asked me sunday night, "What brings you here?", I would have been said, "Voice Conversations!", which I enjoy with an unsuspecting stranger who thought I might be distract-talking to you from a wing chair, whereas I'm frustrated-driving from edge of car seat, not knowing if I'll make the cut through traffic stop, next time the signal light turns green!
This was three days ago, when someone suggested the possibility of hush-hush time, if that makes sense, and it kinda made me put myself out here, because why not? We all have our needs and wants, and this is certainly a want these days, than a need, if one can discern distinction between the two.
Now, I'm new to this side of connections, but regardless, I'm also looking for pure voice chats; you just gotta define your boundaries or be upfront about it early on, because that would certainly help me wall out my own boundaries, and let conversation take its natural course, instead of me, a guy, trying to steer course of that very same conversation towards topics that might be unfavorable to you!
So what am I up to right now, at this very moment? As a Zoom-weary individual suffering from virtual meeting fatigue, I've my video off, typing this post, because at the end of this 1 hour call, meeting notes are gonna be made available, and the AI plugin-in we have in place makes it efficient to overview meeting's essence, in its entirety, than sit all the way through it. TV series have a shorter 30-second recap, for an hour long episode, than gathering of meeting participants, overviewing what happened during last call, and warming up with pleasantries (which can be fun sometimes): all that takes upwards of 5-7 minutes even on a 30-minute quick group call!
Don't worry, I ain't a professional slacker. There are meetings that makes you realize how you've been living under a rock, for not connecting with a coworker soon enough for solutions, to the brick wall you hit in your workflow. And there are others, which feel like a sleep inducing lecture; some coworkers often reiterate what's obvious, and come up with fillers during meeting to cover-up lack of progress, or when they stall with their assigned responsibilities. I know one coworker, in particular, who would smile and often create "new questions" than the solution that's part of meeting's agenda: Oh, and I'm sure gonna follow through with ____, because his suggestion seems like a better approach than what I came up with <which-is-nothing!> or Yes, I was supposed to fix this BUT I think we should focus on ____, before I share my solution, because that would make-or-break what's next to come FOR US <shifting-responsibility-from-self-using-chaos-theory> or Thank you very much. So I already found solution BUT in that process I stumbled upon a grave error in our existing ____, and I feel a urgent need to share it with you and fix that first together! <didn't-finish-what-I-was-asked-for-but-let-me-dig-some-dirt-from-past-thats-unimportant> - yeah, I know you ____ : how you always redirect attention to something else when you have nothing to show-up, during our weekly group calls!
Anywho, back to my post: What else? So yeah, without losing my train of thoughts, I'm gonna level with you - are you a good conversationalist? Can you voice call? Did you come to my post hoping for some hush-hush time? Whatever that's, I'm all ears, and I'll try my best not to merely nod along with "oh, ok!" or "ohhh" or " "hm" or "huh huh" filler words, whether via voice chat or in-person.
Please don't suck me into texting rabbit hole, forever. Be brave enough to take a leap of faith and share your anonymous alias to take our conversation (or us) off reddit (or perhaps in-person).
Prefer you raw, than marinated!
