I was most romantic in my adolescence. I harboured romantic beliefs in destiny, in fated encounters, in special chemistry. I dreamt of soul mates and twin flames. I wished for flaming conversations and telepathic connection.
Somewhere through life, layers of pragmatism settled along the surface of my personality. Perhaps it was adulthood and the pressures that come along with it. Perhaps it was being introduced to a soul less corporate world with no true friends. Perhaps it was the weight of tangible, real problems that made the dreams feel like a frivolity.
However, I recently chanced upon a book that invited me back into my childhood dreams. That gave me the courage to hope for something more than the superficial. The book itself was a fantasy book in the most enchanted setting. It features a prince who does not enjoy hunting or violence but instead is drawn to poetry and literature. The prince believes in true love and was fiercely against an alliance. However, he softens upto it. There are moments in the book, when the prince observes himself having to turn cold and feelingless and practical, much like his father. He often wonders if he would become like that once he turns king.
In this prince, I saw me.
I liked the purity of it all. The magic of having some sweet, destined companionship.
Unlike a younger version of me, I don't believe in a single soul mate. I believe that we can have multiple soul mates whom we can resonate with and they need not all be romantic.
I am looking for someone to write and receive effortful messages from, talk in excited hush whispers over voice call with. Someone to look out for each other and care for each other. Tell about each other's days and discoveries. Talk about feelings and thoughts.
Maybe someone to even say romantic things and pretend we are a prince and princess in an enchanted tale. Maybe even pretend to say epic promises of love that fairy tale characters do to each other.
There is sufficient about me in my other posts so I will not write much more about me here
