Hey R4Asian! I’ve been getting messages on discord and PMs from female redditors on here questioning if someone is good to meet in person.

Here are some tips before meeting up:

1. get on a phone call - even a minute should be fine. Video call is sometimes not recommended because people are known to screen record. If they have an issue with phone call but not video call, it should be a red flag. Work your way up to video call if needed.

2. meet up at a place you’re comfortable with and have an escape route if needed

3. have a friend call you in the middle of your meet to check if you’re okay

4. Do not give social media until you meet. Trade photos until you feel comfortable with the person.

In the past year, we’ve had 3 male redditors who had prior or pending sexual harassment charges meet up with female redditors on here (one in SD/Orange County, one in San Francisco, and one in NYC). There is one female redditor that is hostile in person in the OC area as well. Because they have lurked on here on different accounts, it’s hard to ban them. However we have all their real names, body profiles, etc so if you have someone in mind include that info.

We also ban users who harrass in the comments or chat/DMs. We’ve successfully banned several redditors in the past year from Reddit as a whole due to spam messaging.

We will not verify online relationships because some people make up alias’s for their online persona. We will verify people planning to meet in person in the same proximity to prevent unsafe behavior.
