Hey there, I'm a 1.5 generation Chinese-Australian woman. I came to Australia when I was a child and I grew up with a half-assed Chinese education from my parents and Saturday Chinese school. I grew up speaking Chinese but my vocabulary needs a lot of work. I would like to learn more about Chinese history, culture and language and I'm hoping to find someone I can be "study buddies" with. I'm thinking we could share study resources (I have a lot of e-books that I never got around to reading) and maybe get together for Chinese movie nights/c-drama marathons if you're up for it. It won't be a formal arrangement, I know we all have busy lives, it's just something I'd like to do with another person as a hobby.

You must:

• Be able to speak Chinese fluently (at least be able to understand everyday Chinese conversation)
• Have a general understanding/overview of Chinese culture and history (I'm not here to teach you, sorry)
• Live in Sydney and be willing to meet up in person at least once in a while - I'm not looking for a penpal

Please do not message me if you do not meet the above criteria. I am not here to teach anyone who is simply "curious" about Chinese culture. No guys with yellow fever please, it's gross.

Bonus points if you are Chinese and male (only because pretty much all my friends are Chinese females* and I'd like to even up the ratio a bit, but I'm open to all). Preferably you are in the same boat as me (as in, you grew up here and want to learn more about your culture).

I am open to all ages but please be mature and be able to have an adult conversation. I'm also open to doing other activities such as hiking, exercise, lunches/dinners, etc. However it is important that you have an interest in China and Chinese culture/history/language/etc.

(*Also, in case you're wondering why I don't just do these things with my existing friends, it's because they are 'ABCs' who are not particularly interested in exploring Chinese culture. I have tried.)
