Those of you that have been around the NSFW Seattle subs for a while may remember r/SeattleGoneWild. It was banned circa two years ago due to lack of moderation and a doxxing event. However, if you go to it now you'll see that it's not banned anymore, but is set to private. This is because I made a request for it and set it to private for the time being while I figure out what to do with it.
Note: Please do not send me a bunch of requests to join while it's private. They will be ignored. There's nothing happening in there currently anyway.
For a long time I've been wary of local GW-type subs due to the amount of spam they attract and the difficulty in moderating them to something that's not a cesspool of junk that no one would care about (granted, maybe you feel that way about r/r4rseattle already). It's possible to do this from what I've seen, but it takes quite a lot of work. For that reason, I'm somewhat on the fence about what to do, if anything, with r/SeattleGoneWild. I do have some ideas though around how to differentiate it from other local GW subs that may make it worthwhile to re-launch, but I also want to hear from you all before doing anything:
- What do you want from a local GW sub?
- How can something like this compliment r/r4rseattle?
- Or are you happy with the current status quo and see it as just a waste of time and effort?
First though:
Why do we need another Seattle GW sub?
A few reasons come to mind:
- While we have a bunch of Seattle area subs like this, some well moderated and some not, there isn't one that's both well moderated and specifically geared towards being an R4R board. r/SeattleGoneWild would be both.
- r/r4rseattle does not allow photos/video to be posted and I have no intention of ever changing that (except for verified posters in the post body).
- I like the idea of r/r4rseattle having a companion sub where photos are allowed and users can do some more showing off while keeping r/r4rseattle as intended for purely personal ads.
- r/SeattleGoneWild still has ~20k subscribers so it would start off with a healthy userbase and it seems kind of foolish to let that go to waste.
- I have some ideas on how to differentiate it from other subs; see below.
What are my ideas for it?
- First and foremost, this would be a r4r-type sub. You'd be welcome to post photos purely for exhibitionism if you wish, but r4r posts/titles are also ok and encouraged.
- Sellers (OnlyFans, premium Snapchat, whatever else) would not be allowed. Similar to how r/gonewild operates, anyone that links to selling websites anywhere in their profile would not be welcome here or anyone that tries to push people to their selling links when someone messages them. This sub would be pure exhibitionism and locals looking to meet.
- I have nothing against sellers, but there's a million and a half subreddits for them already and very few that are still pure exhibitionism.
- My primary concern with these GW subs is the amount of spam they attract. Prohibiting all types of seller accounts would go a long way to prevent this as it's easy to identify the spam profiles with links to buy their content. I'm also thinking of more strict rules for required verification of female posters since those are 99% of the spam posts. Not that it would be necessarily required right out of the gate for all of them, but it would be much more aggressive moderating for anything that resembles a stolen photo being removed until verification is provided. This can be adjusted up or down as needed based on the amount of spam received too.
- Some type of rule around reposts. That is, posting the same photo every day/week would not be allowed. Every month or so would probably be ok, but the same low quality dick pic posted every day is a no-go.
- Likewise, I'd be inclined to relax the "one post per calendar rule" that we have here in r/r4rseattle as long as new content is being posted by someone.
- The same type of required post flair in r/r4rseattle (male, female, couple, trans) would be required in r/SeattleGoneWild too for easy filtering of the posts you're interested in.
- Verification in r/r4rseattle and r/SeattleGoneWild would be reciprocal.
Open questions
Some things I'm not sure about:
- Should there be a required method to differentiate r4r posts from people purely wanting to show off? Reddit only support one piece of post flair so if using that for male/female/couple/trans, there's nothing else that could be added. There could either a required title format or the flair could be something like "Male - r4r" or "Male - exhibitionism." and similar for the other flairs.
- Should comments be allowed? Comments are disabled in r/r4rseattle by default which I think was a great change since they can be enabled by a poster if desired. This isn't possible with link posts since there's no post body to put an unlock command in. So I'd be tempted to disable comments for everything since there's very rarely a use for them and if you want to make a meta post, you could do that in r/r4rseattle.
What do you want out of a Seattle GW sub?
Alright, so let me turn this over to you all. Does any of this seem interesting at all? Would you use a sub like this? What rules/policies would make a local GW sub useful for you? All feedback is much appreciated.
