25M4A - Absolute noob to Magic the Gathering, and looking for friends to chill with and play!

Hello you beautiful people. I've recently gotten into Magic: the Gathering and I'm super keen to play. There are two issues though. My only other friend who plays is always busy, and I really wanna go to a local game store but I don't want to make a fool of myself because I have no idea what I'm doing. I know the rules, but I'm a novice to the core. I've got a precon horizons 3 deck but no one to try it out with until maybe Friday at fortress. Any tips? Anyone wanna chill and hang and play a game or two? I'd just love to jump in and play!
It also sucks that I work shift work and that seriously inhibits me from regular nights of play :'(
