I've posted on Reddit before, and have met a few women, but it hasn't worked out yet, so I am trying once again. I guess I should tell you a little about myself before I let you know what I seek.
As the title says, I am 49 and live in rural Newfoundland. The big 5-0 is coming this autumn, and I have hit most of my goals in life, though there are still lots of things that I hope to accomplish. Finding someone to share these victories is certainly very high on that list.
I work as a chef instructor with the provincial college system, a job that I often joke is like a pair of golden handcuffs. I work teachers hours, but it also means I don't get any choice as to when I get to take time off. That said, its a good trade-off considering I have the entire summer off plus loads of holidays through the school year. And its certainly much better than the hours of a working chef.
I have a beautiful home that I share with my two huskies who love to go on hikes with me and who are loving the snow much more than I am these days. It would be so much nicer to have someone to cuddle with on the couch and stare at the fire though.
I was gifted 10 acres that are part of an 85 acre family acreage last year, and I intend to start cutting logs to build a cabin this coming spring. I will be eligible to retire from the college in 12 years, and my ultimate goal is to have my cabin along with a small garden plot that I can live in through the nice months, and travel somewhere warm and sunny each winter, so someone with that travelling pioneer spirit is what I really seek.
I have been married once before, but it ended before our first anniversary. It ended amicable, and we remain friendly several years later. I've never been lucky enough to have kids, and it is something that I remain open to, whether its a child we have together, or a child that you bring into the relationship.
Relocating is not in the cards for me at this time, so I am hoping to meet someone that would be interested in relocating this way if a relationship were to develop.
Well, if you are still reading this, there must be some curiosity, so here are a few pictures of me to answer some questions. This one is from Oct 2022 at the beach in my town, which I walk frequently with the dogs. Coffee first, always. I am a bit of a Christmas nut, and once again cut my own tree this year.
Hope to hear from someone.
