About me...
I'm 28 y/o, former film maker turned IT wizard with a dry sense of humor that's marinated in goofiness. I am well spoken, a hard-worker, a good listener and a introspective introvert who has a tendency to think deeply about things. Friendly observers have regarded me someone that's kind, intelligent, really decent, organised, diplomatic and sincere. But please feel free to take that for what it's worth.
While I am easily captivated by topics related to psychology, French culture, tech, DIY, film making, photography and skiing – I also like to be creative every once in a while! Even if that just involves a drop-in art class, a photography session or a few chords on a cheap stratocaster. I'm rarely found in the pub, but I sometimes enjoy either whiskey, rum or cider with dinner at home or in good company.
At some stage in the future, I'd like to try my hand at bouldering and maybe take up French lessons. I also enjoy chess and have won tournaments when I was a primary school pupil... I'm hoping to return to this and play more casually. ;)
After wrapping up a two-year course in IT and completing a 'virtual' internship, I decided to take a career break to revitalise old hobbies while also acquiring new ones since the lockdowns ended in January. To help ease myself back into a sense of normality, I took up swing dancing after being told numerous times that I have good rhythm when caught drying the dishes. I also volunteered for a polish charity based in Dublin who were delivering donations to the people of Ukraine — And like many others, I felt an urge to do something when I first heard the news at the time.
I started a new job recently which can be physically demanding and requires me to retire before 9pm in preparation for an early commute. Although I appreciate the exercise and avoiding the morning rush hour, it has has impacted the social-life I've acquired through attending weekday evening dance lessons and meetups. I am actively looking out for career opportunities that are better suited for my technical abilities as well as my lifestyle.
What I'm looking for...
I tend to spend a lot of time doing things alone as most of my friends had diverged since we finished our course over two years ago. Due to the nature of the industry and the routes I've taken in life, my peers tend to be older men who are juggling between further education, their career, a mortgage, a relationship, kids or all the above. I find myself at a bit of a loose end – Craving deep, meaningful and honest friendships which are hard to come by.
I'm looking for a companion to help broaden my perspective and help keep the lonely pangs at bay while I'm on this quest to find my tribe and to take over the known universe. Ideally, a long-term and meaningful connection where we'd check-in, make plans, offer support, push each other hard to succeed and comfort them if either of us fail. Preferably, we'd be around the same age and share similar values.
While it would be nice to develop a more romantic connection, this is incredibly rare for me and I don't expect this to happen anytime soon. I suspect that I might be demisexual, so if this ever becomes your intention down the line, please bear in mind that it's important that we take things slow. I want to know you as a friend first before anything else.
Your Turn!
If you'd like to have me as a friend – Tell me about you, what you've been up to lately and what caught your eye! I'd be delighted to hear from you! Writing this has been ballsy on my part and I'd appreciate a genuine effort from you.
We can upgrade to a more convenient platform like WhatsApp or Discord at a later stage when we're both comfortable. Rest assured, I'm not going make lewd / nsfw remarks which some redditors found refreshing.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you're having a good week!
