Greetings Redditors,
I am reposting this from last night as I am still looking for more and its hard to keep a post viewed when it falls off the new page.
I am looking for a few brave souls to sit down once a week and join myself and a score of other random folks in an rp(roleplaying) session about surviving a zombie apocalypse. If you love the Walking Dead or the zombie genre in general then at some point or another you have thought "could I survive." I want to put that to the test. As an author (nothing worth note) and a sadistic sociopath I have created multiple scenarios that function much like a game of Oregon Trail, but with you as the survivor.
Right now I am looking for 6-8 individuals that can commit 2-4 hours a week on Weds nights. 7 PM PST. To sit in a voice chat room (Most likely team speak as its functionality is along the lines of what I will need as a narrator, its free and works a lot like Skype if you are unfamiliar with it) with those other 7 and make decisions, take actions, and suffer consequences of being a part of a group of a strangers during an apocalypse. You will be faced with extreme choices that you as a group have to make, or that you as an individual can take into your own hands. I want to experiment with the psychological ramifications of being in an apocalyptic scenario and see how complete strangers not only interact but strive to survive. There is no winning screen at the end, no prize, no gold medal... if you manage to survive you will be invited back when I start season 2. I plan on this session lasting anywhere between 4 and 6 weeks and then bringing on new characters to replace the ones that made the inevitable wrong decision and ended up with a clear conscious but dead... and hungry.
I have developed a system that comes from my years as a DM of DND and Pathfinder among other pen and paper games. There will be a very general character sheet that only you as an individual will be privy to, so if you have no experience with pen and paper rpgs don't worry. There will be no dice rolling, no stat tracking, no meta/power gaming. Your character will be your own but once you decide on your character you will have to take whatever positive qualities or flaws you chose. Your decisions are all that matters, and the consequences will be prevalent from day one. The goal is to get a few characters together that possibly compliment each other but all have their own issues that conflict. Its a story building opportunity where you are one of the main characters. I plan on documenting and possibly taking the adventure and writing it as a story. If you die there will not be a reset button, you are welcome to participate as a silent party for the rest of the adventure but you will no longer be a part of this session. Characters will die, if you can't accept that your creation might get shot in the back by a companion or that a zombie nibbles on your toes during sleep or dissentary... then you are missing the point of the whole experiment. Remember though, you and the group have COMPLETE control over what you do, if you can figure it out together.
So if I have perked your interest here are MY requirements to be a part of the group. You must develop a character (whether you wish to use your real life persona or one of your creation does not matter) that has survived the apocalypse for 6 weeks. I want 1000 words describing who they were before the event began, physical characteristics, sex, profession(s), moral compass, religions, EVERYTHING. If you can find a picture of who your character would look like that would also be great as visuals do help. This will show me that you are invested in your character and the group, if this is too much work for you then you wont last a single session because there will be alot of typing and dialogue, this will not be a fireball slinging, berserk barbarian, legolas rpg. I request that you do not play a character that you are incapable of fulfilling personally ie: You are not a British Chemist if you are an American who is incapable of faking a British accent and didn't pass high school chemistry... although that would make for some good laughs it hurts the story and the experience for others. If you do want to play said chemist then at least be able to carry on a conversation about science... we will be online, you can use Google. Also your character will be ignored if he is a breed of any action movie star or if he is clearly self destructive. I want "we are only together because we have to be" not "if I slit her throat in the middle of the night I wouldn't have to hear her speak ever again". Its fine for your character to be aggressive and even bullyish, you need to have thick skin if you want to join this group.
I will select the top 8 that I receive over the next week and have a one on one sit down with you if you are selected. We will work on a very generic understanding of not only the structure of the scenario but also who your character truly is.
If you have any questions feel free to pm me or to send me your synopsis as requested above. Spelling and grammar once overs are appreciated but I will not dock you for not being an English major, as long as you can express your ideas clearly. To join this group I highly encourage you to understand that this will be very mature rated. The world has gone to shit and there are zombies... people are getting raped, murdered, and mutilated left and right. If you are incapable of enjoying raunchy, bloody, and possibly death you need not apply.
I look forward to hearing from you all!
EDIT: Deadline for character submissions is august 1st, I will be doing one on ones on the 2nd (saturday). EDIT2: Due to my limited knowledge of the world abroad the events will be taking place in the United States. Your character can be from anywhere but he has found himself/herself fighting for survival here. I have multiple starting locations to choose from and you will not be told until the moment we start the session. Please do not apply unless you are absolutely positive you can commit for a minimum of 6 weeks. If you no show I will find a very distasteful way to kill you off. EDIT3: I have received a dozen applications so far so keep them coming guys!
TLDR: Starting a zombie survival RP session online once a week. Story driven, fun times with 7-8 people. Could you survive the apocalypse with a group of strangers? No past experience required, just an imagination and the will to survive.
