So, before you point your fingers at me, let me explain HAHA. My friend started this thing where he only gets into one-month relationships. At first, I thought it was a little strange, but when he explained it, it made sense.

Here’s the gist:

• A time-bound relationship forces you to have a conversation about intentions, expectations, and boundaries. That alone removes a lot of the messy stuff that comes with “going with the flow” and breakups.
• It removes the "forever" pressure, so instead of stressing about the future, you can focus on making the most of the time you have.
• And, when the month ends, you can choose to keep going or part on good terms, without drama as long as everyone communicates honestly.

I laughed it off at first, thinking, “Nice in theory, but it’d never work in practice.” But curiosity got the best of me, and I asked someone I met online if she’d be down to try it. Surprisingly, she agreed!

Admittedly, it was a little odd at first, but the time-sensitive commitment removed so many barriers you’d usually experience. We ended up having an incredible time, learning so much about ourselves, and the experience was unexpectedly healing and eye-opening.
