You know that feeling when you embrace someone and you try to transmit in your squeeze all your good intentions towards them? Or when someone does it to you. Like in this moment of connection, you want this soul you have the privilege of holding to understand your great care and appreciation for them.
That's what I want our relationship to feel like: safe in the knowledge that we'll try our best for each other, want the best for each other, be there for each other. Our hands homes for the other's. Our hearts homes for each other. Someone's presence, their touch, their embrace a comfort; each the other's world entire.
And so when I think of peace, I think of you. Wrapped up, our hearts beating in unison, our breathing synchronized, in and out. Your head on my chest, tucked just under my chin in the little hollow made for you. My hand strokes your hair and ambles down your back, my fingertips' gentle brush goosebumping your nape as they trace a path down your spine.
In this room, in this bed, in both our minds, there is only us. Wrapped up tight in my arms in bed, our cool bodies entwined beneath the ceiling fan's lazy circuit. My hands wander aimlessly, enjoying your shape, the feeling of you. You are mine and you belong to me. That feeling of belonging, that security, the knowledge there is someone who you can tell anything: that is peace.
