I gave myself a couple reading goals this year - 52 books for the year, and the r/fantasy Book Bingo challenge - and they're going great! And what I've found is that the more I read, the more I want to read, and to find new books I might not know about to try. I'd love to connect with someone amazing over some of our favorite books! If it turns in to something beyond that, fantastic; if not, we can at least make a new book friend and swap some favorite titles!
A bit about me: Just turned 39 a few days ago, living about 45 minutes outside NYC with a cat who likes to hang out on the back of my chair while I read. I love gaming of all sorts (in a couple D&D games, have boardgame nights whenever I can, and I finished Honour Mode Baldur's Gate 3 last month). Go to a bunch of different Renaissance Faires across the Northeast with my friends. I started LARPing last year and I love it - it's like camping D&D Ren Faire, absolutely amazing. I'm also a Mets fan and I've gotten back in to golfing a bit in the past year (I am terrible at it but I have fun). I've started going to the gym three days a week, and I'm a middling cook! Very much a Disney Adult. I'd love to do more Broadway (open to suggestions and a theatre buddy, too!) Child free, drug free, I don't smoke, and I drink rarely - like, a mead at a Faire every now and then rarely. I'm on the left politically!
I'm AMAB but genderfluid, so I present female sometimes. Like 85-90% male presenting, but when I have a fun event and time to prepare (Faire, night out at a friend's bar, Pride, Halloween) I love getting my girl side on. Boy Me! Girl Me! (side effect of going femme when it's some sort of fun event, I wind up with more girl pictures!)
Book Preferences: Here's what my bingo card looks like so far for the year! I love all sorts of fantasy, sci-fi (anything from soft to medium-hardish sci-fi - super dense sci-fi would be on a specific recommendation basis), alternate history, historical fiction... definitely open to non-fiction recs, too! Some of my favorites from the past few years that aren't on that list include Legends & Lattes, Dungeon Crawler Carl, the Scholomance trilogy, Project Hail Mary, and most of John Scalzi's one shot works (Red Shirts, Kaiju Preservation Society, Starter Villain...); one of my all time favorite series is S.M. Stirling's Emberverse.
About you (Book Friend Edition): An enjoyer of any of the stuff above, with a few new titles to suggest to me!
About you (Book Friend Edition): Femme (Cis girls, Femme-leaning enbies, trans ladies!), late 20s-early 40s, in the northeast with similar interests? I'd prefer child free/drug free/smoke free as well! Bonus points if you're bi/pan (I'm a two-for-one deal if you are, get a boyfriend and a girlfriend!)
Good with chat or messages! If you're down for more than just book recommendations, I'd love a picture so I know who I'm chatting with early on!
